Nearly all of the artisanal techniques and exquisite, intricate hand-work exhibited in the Rucci collections are always conceived, developed, and realized by Rucci and his team – a studio which has been collectively referred to as one of the finest in the world. Rucci and his team are also very proud that every garment – samples and production – is made in their New York City workroom.
Rucci believes he was born to create his chosen métier and continually strives to inspire the individual who independently seeks refinement, beauty and tranquility in the world of fashion. He cherishes experimentation in cut, proportion and construction; he will never stop seeking ways in which to move his profession forward without distraction from the sidelines.
Rucci’s work has been featured in numerous museums, including three solo shows, and is also the subject of a book, “Ralph Rucci: The Art of Weightlessness”. The company was the subject of a documentary film by David Boatman “Ralph Rucci: A Designer and His House”, which premiered on The Sundance Channel in 2008. In 2008, Rucci was honored to accept the National Design Award in Fashion awarded by the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. In October, 2011, Rucci’s plaque on the “Fashion Walk of Fame” was unveiled and was placed on Seventh Avenue; and he was the subject of a Bauer and Dean Publishers book released last December: “Ralph Rucci: Autobiography of a Designer”. Rucci was also very honored to receive the “Award for Design Excellence” of the Costume Council of The Chicago History Museum in October, 2011 and the “Andre Leon Talley Lifetime Achievement Award” from the Savannah College of Art and Design in May, 2012. In December, 2012, Rucci’s paintings were again exhibited at a show – “Ascension” — at the Serge Sorokko Gallery in San Francisco and his furniture line for Holly Hunt will be launched in March, 2013 at an event at the HH Showroom in New York. Rucci is also working on a collection of carpets for Roubini Rugs and will be launching a handbag line later this year.
